Tailored marketing advice to consistently attract the right customers
You’ve been running your business for a while and you feel like you’ve nailed your service delivery. But do you struggle with your marketing momentum? Are you undecided as to which marketing approach to take? Do you feel you need to be more proactive but you aren’t quite sure how best to do that?
If you’ve not already got a full marketing strategy or your current one is outdated, now is the perfect time to take action.
Of course, you could create your own marketing strategy. But it can be hard to see your business from the outside and get the necessary clarity to plan the next steps.
Why do I need a marketing strategy?
It could be that you understand marketing techniques and have tried different strategies in the past, but none of them stuck. Maybe your business has been growing and you’re in need of successful marketing that reflects your progress. Or you want to hire a marketing assistant and need to give them a clear direction.
A marketing strategy is helpful for several reasons:
- Rather than leaving things to chance, a marketing strategy will keep you one step ahead of the game.
- You keep focussed on where you want to go, giving you the road map you need
- It means you can make the most of limited resources of time and money
- You can confidently say yes to the right opportunities – and no to the wrong ones
- It means you can ignore the bright and shiny things (there are always bright and shiny things in marketing!)
- When you have a strategy, you can use it to brief other people you want to work on your business, such as designers, photographers or copywriters, giving them your vision for your business
What is the difference between a marketing strategy and a marketing plan?
The two terms are often used interchangeably by marketers, academics and business owners.
However, I like to think of the marketing strategy as providing the overview and the marketing plan will provide the detailed actions you are going to take.
What do you get with a full marketing strategy package?
My marketing strategy package is not a one-size-fits-all solution, it’s tailored specifically to you and it has several important steps.
We start with an audit of your business, looking at where you currently are and the business goals you want to reach. As part of this step we take a comprehensive look at ALL aspects of your business, creating a detailed SWOT analysis. I’ll ask you lots of questions about your business and how it operates, including; your customers, sales process, customer buying journey, products, and positioning. This will give me a full understanding of your business and current marketing activity.
Sometimes the most obvious questions are the ones businesses don’t ask themselves – that’s what I’m here for, to give the outsider’s perspective.
After our first session, I will delve into your target audience, competitors, and overall positioning. I’ll come to our second session with a clear picture of your market and the opportunities there are for you within it.
We’ll then talk in detail about your target customers and your offer to them.
After that I’ll work on your final report, which will bring everything together with a series of personalised and detailed recommendations.
What is in the marketing strategy report?
In your marketing strategy report, I will include recommendations to include:
- What’s working now? Recommendations around using what you already have. If you’re doing something well, I’ll explain how to reinforce it with complementary tactics.
- Suggestions on how to maximise your current customers
- Do your company’s online presence and brand need updating? I’ll suggest rebrands or new photography before you increase your marketing activity if they’re not up to scratch (and even recommend some vetted professionals).
- A personalised approach to different marketing channels – which social media channels should you use? What type of content should you be posting for your audience?
I will also include an actionable plan, usually for the next 3 months or to suit a specific project timeline. Telling you what marketing you should be doing, including when (regularity) and where (which platforms).
If you need to take on a new marketing assistant, this process can give them a clear guide and help to onboard your new staff member.
What is my time commitment?
In order to do justice to your business, I will need you to commit:
- An hour for the initial discovery call
- An hour to explore your SWOT analysis
- A further hour to present the results of your competitor analysis and to discuss your customer analysis
- A final hour to present the final report and the next steps for your business
Who is the marketing strategy package for?
This is for small business owners who run a service business with clients in the UK. You may be a legal practice, accountancy, architect or financial adviser. Your clients may be businesses or individuals.
You probably have a clear vision about where you want to go as a business and understand your market, and your industry well. But you rarely have enough quality time to commit to marketing activities, and you know that an outside perspective would bring value to your business.
You don’t employ a marketing professional, because your business isn’t yet big enough, but you have successfully outsourced other parts of your business, maybe your accountancy or your IT support so you know this is a good way to grow your business.
Why am I the right person to create this for you?
I’ve got 25 years’ experience in marketing for a range of different business, large and small. I understand the demands on your business, from recruitment challenges and keeping clients happy to the need to manage your cash flow. I’ve worked with many small businesses on their strategy, as well as delivering campaigns and running social media channels.
My experience includes some challenging and high profile industries, from rail to ambulance service to local government, so you can be sure that I am a safe pair of hands for your business.
Evaluating the results of your marketing strategy
Across all points in your marketing strategy, I’ll also tell you how to test and measure results, suggesting relevant systems. We will define what a successful marketing strategy means for you, aligning with your company goals.
For example, if you’re looking to generate more website traffic, do you have analytics systems in place to track this? What targets will you set for improvement and within what timeframe?
Your business marketing strategy will be different to someone else’s. There will be an element of testing and measuring, as with all marketing, to see what works. Your initial marketing action plan will allow you to start with your best foot forward.
It’s all about what your business needs to hit the ground running with a great marketing strategy… and not wasting your efforts in the wrong places.
How much is the marketing strategy package?
Your investment for the full marketing strategy package is just £1647, payable in two equal instalments.
What are the next steps?
Once you have your marketing strategy and action plan, I can help you put it into practice via my marketing manager package. This offers dedicated time each month to deliver your marketing plan.
